Padmaavat shows releases in Chandigarh, run more than in 70 cinemas


The movie has been released with beefed up security in and around movie theatres and shopping malls in order to avoid any mishap or damage to property considering the controversy revolving around the film.

The morning shows of Padmaavat did not attract much audience but the theater owners expect more audience for the late night shows.

Padmaavat is finally running on over a dozen screens in Chandigarh despite the threats issued by fringe Rajput organisations like Karni Sena.
In Panchkula city, film theatres remained deserted as section 144 has been imposed in places around movie theatres. More than 80% theatres in Haryana are not screening the film.

Elante mall which is the biggest shopping mall in Chandigarh will be running a total of 29 shows on seven screens on the first day.
Wave cinema will be organising 16 shows while Central PVR theatres are going to run 17 shows.
Other multiplexes like Carnival Cinemas at Paras mall, Cinepolis at Jagat mall, Fun Cinema at Republic mall, City Centre IT Park PVR theatre will also be running the film.

Padmaavat has also been released in Himanchal Pradesh and Punjab. The state government of Himanchal Pradesh initially wanted to ban the screening of the film but deferred after supreme court's orders.
